90 Day Plan
Now that you’ve identified your priorities (see post-Creating a Life you Love (and Deserve) you should have a clear picture of what you want your life to look like in the near and distant future. Even if you’re not 100% sure what your long term priorities are, the process of thinking about what you want from your life is pointing you towards the right path, which is a great start.
Continue to consider your priorities and then you can start planning the steps that will get you to where you want to be in the next 90 days, and beyond.
That one year plan you have, how can you make it into a six month plan? That six month plan, how can you make it into a 90 day plan? Because if you are clear about what you want, you can take manageable steps to achieve your goals in a short amount of time. The time is passing anyway, so why not make the most of it-creating a life you love?
Take a look at that 6 month plan of yours and ask yourself:
- What will I be doing in 6 months?
- Who will I spend a majority of my time with?
- What hobbies will I have?
- Where will I live?
- What steps do I need to take in 6 months to continue towards my 10 year plan?
Then start to chart out that plan as a 90 day plan. That’s right. Take that 6 month plan, and consider how you could actually achieve all of the goals you have set for yourself in 90 days instead. This chart I use for this process is incredibly simple-yet effective.
|Start Date||Finish Date||Specific Measurable Goal|
|12/31/20||3/31/21||Connect with 2 Friends a Week|
|12/31/20||3/31/21||Workout 4 Days a Week|
|12/31/20||2/28/21||Submit Draft of Paper|
This chart is a great way to stay focused on your major goals for the next 90 days. At the beginning of each week look at the chart and consider at least one thing (or more) you can do during the week to get you closer to each goal. Then put that on your calendar for the week and make sure you do it. It’s amazing how much you will get done in a very short amount of time. One thing I love about the chart is that it shows how manageable your goals are, if you’re consistent in checking the chart weekly and working on the goals throughout the week.
The chart is simple. Making a plan is simple. Sticking to the plan is the hard part. But, when you do-the payoff is great and you have moved so much closer to the life you’ve always dreamed of living. You are completely capable of making it happen! It just takes planning and consistency.
As you head into a new year, it’s a new beginning for you to organize your time and finally reach those goals you have been putting off! This chart is a very effective way for you to start.
